A: All Variants of the OZ9 are not approved for sale in CA except to Active LEO.
Q: DO I HAVE TO USE ZEV INTERNALS IN MY ZEV SLIDE?
A: Although it is recommended to use ZEV parts for the best performance, our slides will work with OEM components. We cannot guarantee the function of other companies’ components due to the chance of tolerance stacking but if they are OEM spec or similar, they should function.
Q: IS ANY FITTING REQUIRED TO INSTALL YOUR BARREL?
A: No fitting is required to install our barrels into our slides or OEM. A break-in period may be required when using other aftermarket components.
Q: IS THE GUIDEROD CAPTURED?
A: Our Guiderods are captured using the provided button-head screw, which is large enough to securely hold the spring in place without the use of a washer. We recommend using Red Loctite and letting it set for 24 hours before use.
Q: DO YOU OFFER ANY GEN 5 COMPONENTS? IS ANYTHING CROSS COMPATIBLE WITH THE GEN 5?
A: Currently, the only Gen 5 components we offer are threaded and nonthreaded barrels, slides and a trigger bar kit with our pro connector. Our current Gen 5 compatible components would be our pro striker spring, firing pin safety spring, backplate, mag release and pro connector. Any new items will be announced on our website, social media and Company Newsletter.

The screws installed and holding the cover plate will be 4-40 x 1⁄4 and to mount the optic, a small bag with 4-40 x 5/16 screws is included in the packaging. If the cut was for a DPP, which was done in limited numbers, the length needed for the optic is 4-40 x 1⁄2.
Q: WHAT OPTIC IS YOUR SLIDE CUT FOR?
A: Currently, most of our slides are cut for the Trijicon RMR/SRO footprint, and smaller slides, like the 365 and 365XL, will use an RMSc footprint. Some slides we do in limited quantity will be cut for the Leupold Delta Point Pro. Currently, most RMR footprint optics like the Holosun series (407, 507, 508t) will fit our RMR Cut Slides, as well as the optics cut for the RMSc like the SIG Romeo Zero or Holosun 407/507k.
Q: WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE FULCRUM TRIGGER AND THE PRO TRIGGER?
A: The Fulcrum trigger is our adjustable trigger, adjustable for pre and over travel. The PRO is preset from the factory and does not offer the adjustments. Both triggers kits will use the same bar, and come with the same basic components with the only difference is the Adjustable Drop in and Ultimate kit will come with the lighter 2 and 3 lb striker springs and the PRO triggers will come with the pro striker spring.
Q: WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE ULTIMATE KIT AND DROP IN KIT?
A: The only difference between the two kits is the Ultimate comes with our skeletonized striker, while the Drop In Kit will come with all the same accruement minus the striker.
Q: IS A GEN 3 TRIGGER COMPATIBLE WITH A GEN 4 GUN?
A: The trigger bar, connector, FPS, and springs are all compatible between Gen 2-4 guns. The ejector housing is the only difference, with Gen 4 having a different style specific to that generation. The ejector housings are not interchangeable.
Q: ARE YOU GOING TO RELEASE AN EXTENDED MAG RELEASE FOR GEN 4/5 LIKE YOU HAVE FOR THE GEN 3?

Extractor plunger spring – 10,000 rounds
Spring cups – 5,000 to 10,000 rounds
Q: WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE BILLET, CORE ELITE, AND CORE DUTY RIFLES?
A: Billet rifles are machined out of 7075 Billet Aluminum, machined to precise specifications from a single block. The Billet rifles also come with almost fully ambidextrous controls for the safety, bolt release and mag catch. The Core Elite shares many components but will come with our ZEV made Muzzle device, forged receiver and is non ambidextrous. Both share the same trigger, barrel, and internal components. The Core Duty is similar to the Core Elite in that it is forged but will come with Mil-spec components instead of custom parts like the trigger and barrel.
Q: WHY DOES ZEV ONLY SELL THE BILLET AS A SET AS OPPOSED TO JUST SELLING AN UPPER AND A LOWER?
A: The Billet sets are manufactured with match grade tolerances. Each receiver set is made from one single block of aluminum, which means the uppers and lowers are essentially “mated” to each other. Selling these separate could create issues with tolerance stacking as no two separately made sets can be made 100% identical.
Q: CAN I BUY THE BRONZE RIFLE BARREL SEPARATLEY?
A: Our Bronze barrel is exclusive to complete builds. There are no plans at this time to sell them individually.
Q: WHAT MATERIAL ARE YOUR RECEIVER SETS?
A: Our receiver sets are made of 7075-T651 Billet Aluminum
Q: WHAT TYPE OF COATING DO YOU USE?
A: True Black Class 2 Type 3 Hard Coat Anodize
Q: ARE ALL MEGA RECEIVERS AMBIDEXTROUS?
A: No, only the MATEN receiver set (.308) and GTR-3H (5.56) are ambi. They feature an ambit magazine release as well as an ambidextrous bolt release.
Q: DO I NEED ANYTHING EXTRA FOR THE RECEIVERS?
A: The receiver sets will all come with any proprietary components needed.
Q: WHAT IS THE MATEN?
A: The MEGA MATEN is the 308 Large Frame that came be chambered in .308/7.62x51 and 6.5 Creedmoor as well as similarly sized cartridges. MATEN stands for Mega Arms TEN (as in AR-10).
Q: WHAT BOLTS AND BARRELS CAN I USE WITH THE MATEN?
A: The MATEN is Designed to accept any AR style .308 barrels and bolts. This means you can use your AR10/Noveske or SR25/DPMS components.
We recommend using the same manufacture for your barrel and bolt. As always, assembly should be done by a qualified gunsmith, using the proper head spacing gages
Q: WHAT HANDGUARD IS COMPATIBLE WITH THE MATEN?
A: Any handguard with a barrel nut designed to fit the Knight SR25 or DPMS will fit the MATEN upper. The MATEN shares a common rail height with the SR25, DPMS High and the Armalite AR10. The necessary cuts have also been included on the upper to use a Samson handguard.
Q: WHAT TRIGGER CAN I USE IN A MEGA?
A: All AR15 MEGA Receivers use Mil-Spec components. The MATEN lower will accept any AR compatible trigger.
When using an Armalite or Knight carrier, a narrower than mil-spec hammer is required. Check with carrier manufacturer
Q: WHAT STOCK CAN I USE ON A MATEN?
A: By incorporating the Mil-Spec buffer thread on the MATEN lower you have the ability to choose any stock you want. Adjustable Magpul, Mil-Spec A2 and everything in between.
After testing here are some buffer combinations we found work well:
When using the Vltor AR10 5 position buffer tube an H3 buffer should be used with an Armalite AR10 buffer spring or standard DPMS .308 spring.
When using a standard 6 position (Mil-spec or commercial buffer tube), use a DPMS .308 carbine buffer & DPMS .308 carbine spring. Or Armalite equivalent.
When using an A2 stock, the Armalite AR10 buffer and buffer spring, or DPMS .308 standard spring and buffer should be used.
Q: WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE FORGED MEGA AR15 RECEIVER AND THE BILLET RECEIVER?
A: The billet MEGA sets offer an ambidextrous magazine release and bolt catch as well as an integrated and enlarged trigger guard. The Forged Receiver follows a traditional mil-spec style of manufacturing and is NOT ambidextrous.
Q: WHAT IS AN MML UPPER?
A: The MML product line is for both the AR15 and MATEN. The primary benefit is that the handguard mounts directly to the upper receiver rather than mounting on the barrel nut like the wedgelock. The MEGA MATEN MML Billet Upper Receiver with either a 12", 14", or 16" M-LOK Handguard was designed to complement the enhanced features of the MEGA MATEN rifle product line while retaining compatibility with SR25/DPMS pattern accessories to give you the most options for completing your build. The MML Handguard can ONLY be used on a MEGA MML upper that has been machined to accept the enhanced locking system. It is a one-piece free float design with continuous top rail and is also machined from 7075-t651 billet aluminum.
Q: DO YOU DO CERAKOTING OR HAVE OPTIONS IN OTHER COLORS?
A: No, we no longer make ZEV Custom builds. You can usually find some of our old custom work on Gunbroker.
